Dark Rum

WHAT IS DARK RUM?

A clear spirit aged for a long period of time.  Rum transfers into charred oak or wooden barrels then aged.  Results end with darker color and bold flavor profiles.  Longer aging processes give darker tones. Caramel, burnt sugars and molasses can add dark tones to the Rum.

Difference between Light and Dark:

Light varieties age for lesser time while Dark age longer in barrels.  Dark bottles age then become bottled. Light spirits distill to rid impurities then bottled. Light Rums have subdued flavor but stay sweet. Dark have stronger notes of flavor and aren’t subtle.
